Hey, guys. I figured I may as well hop in these here boards and give some solid character bios, so here goes.
Shade Hyakaze
My favorite character for RPing in #Forest.
Shade is a synthetic human from a dystopian society in which humanity is irrationally fearful of extinction. The Synthetics were designed to preserve humanity's history; essentially, they would be the next massive generation of humans. They were made from tough alloys combined with biological tissue, allowing a synthetic body a 1000-year lifespan. Though it can take months to complete, Synthetics had regenerative abilities and could recover lost limbs flawlessly, though a severed arm will not produce a new Synthetic, and a body split in half will simply disintegrate.
After some time, Shade managed to create an update to the synthetic body, removing the constant regeneration and allowing synthetics to completely regenerate their bodies in one event, though this would remove their ability to transfer between bodies, and it would give them a new face and personality every time they regenerated. It's been described as a sensation of dying, then being revived as someone else. The new Synthetics are 85% organic and have a binary vascular system (two hearts) to lessen the strain of simply being synthetic.
Some scientists were skeptical after the advent of Synthetics; what if these machines decided they wanted to dominate humanity? Though none of the ten thousand sentient synthetics already produced had no intention of this, a policing force was deemed necessary and the catholic church formed the Order of Human Preservation Against Synthetic Technology. Most laymen now refer to them as the Tech Priests.
Shortly after the Tech Priests were formed, they decided that the sentient Synthetics were a crime against humanity. The nonsentients, kept as servants, were considered fine because they were machines meant for serving man. Thus, sentient Synthetics were hunted for sport and genocide. Shade placed himself at the forefront of Synthetic research, hunting for ways to preserve the Synthetics and fight against the Tech Priests.
During one of his experimental teleportation tests, designed to be able to move between safe houses, a numerical error altered the destination coordinates and landed Shade in the Forest with no way of getting home, aside from destroying his body and transmitting his memory core to a new one. However, he plans to use this time as a reprieve, and possibly find a new place in this world to rebuild a society for synthetics.
Shade's current appearance (after returning from dystopia) is tall and thin, with wild brown hair, a blue suit, and a trenchcoat. Upon the resurrection, I was feeling lazy, so I modeled his physical appearance after David Tennant from Doctor Who. As a bit of a joke, Shade has never heard of Doctor Who, and gets annoyed when someone calls him "Doctor."
Shade's armaments:
-Yin and Yang: Shade's gloves directly interface with his nervous system for control. His left palm absorbs energy and his right palm returns it in whatever form he deems fit. For example, he can freeze a target with his left palm and fire that energy as a shock wave to take down a wall.
-The Omnipack: Shade's hax inventory. It's a device on his belt, shaped somewhat like a portable CD player, that can store nearly infinite amounts of stuff without weighing him down.
-The Sonic Screwdriver: Shade is an engineer, and I didn't think any omni-tool could better suit his needs. It doesn't work on deadlock seals, though.

Miyaki Hayakaze
Just before the Tech Priests became mad with power, the sentient Synthetics began working towards earning human rights for themselves. The only right they actually ended up getting was the right to marry.
During one of his many expeditions in search of safe territory, Shade came across a damaged nonsentient Synthetic. He repaired most of her systems and removed her inhibitor, allowing her to become sentient. She revealed that her owners had named her Miyaki. She followed Shade around for some time for protection. At one point, the pair was ambushed by a sniper, and Miyaki managed to use ultrasonic waves to boil the enemy's blood and kill him.
After some time together, Shade and Miyaki fell in love. Just one day before Shade found himself in Forest, the pair managed to find a pastor who would marry them, even though Synthetics were considered an enemy of the public. After Shade's disappearance, Miyaki believed the Tech Priests were responsible, and tried to kill any of them she saw. She suffered head trauma fighting the first Priest she came across, and nearly died fighting the second. She managed to find her way to the teleport and escape to Forest.
During her adventures in the Forest, Miyaki fell victim to an old-fashioned anti-android trick: paradox. She froze over it and had to be reset. Sometime later, Shade's update was released and Miyaki was upgraded and soon regenerated. She's now quite zealous about discovering new things, and has an obsession with learning and thinking.
Miyaki currently wears tennis shoes and a lab coat over a black shirt and gray denim cargo pants. Her hair is a vibrant blue, her skin is pale, and her eyes are an iridescent red/orange.
Miyaki currently has no armaments.
