Of course, we haven't yet figured out a plot, and many events will be tied to the plot...
But in all good games, there are sideplots and side events. As well, there should be maingame events that aren't directly linked to the big bad evil thing, unless we want the guy to apparently have no other goal than to micromanage his troops to piss the good guys off.
The events could also be vague, so they can be linked later on to the big bad guy, of course. SO! In order not to all try to come up with the events at once once we've worked out the plot and done everything else, enter any random events you want here!
And yes, you can totally add rewards, new skills, etc. for doing the event.
Oh no, the baby hippo!!
Event: The group finds a baby hippo being bullied by monsters! Kikari insists on saving it, and runs off to help before anyone else can react! (You fight with only Kikari for a few turns before the others turn up.)
How to trigger: Take a certain detour in an area, leading to a dead end where this event happens.
Required characters: Kikari.
Rewards: New special ability for Kikari, with the baby hippo having a chance of blocking and countering an attack for him.
Vortex
Event: Devic left to scout and has yet to return. As the group moves on they find a black hedgehog standing by a defeated Devic, overly gleeful, and go to help!
How to trigger: Set event.
Required characters: None.
Rewards: None.
Baby demon's ball
Event: The group stumbles onto a small demon, pacing around near a swamp in distress. It tries to explain that its ball went rolling out into the swamp, and as you try to fetch it you're attacked by creatures who have claimed the ball for themselves!
How to trigger: Random encounter/set event (depending on how pointlessly mean the big bad is)
Required characters: None.
Rewards: x4 Demon fruits.
Cat witch
Event: The group suddenly finds a witch hut! The witch inside is a cat and says hello, and offers to make them something *maaaagical* if they bring her certain items.
How to trigger: Randomly pops up on the overworld.
Required characters: None.
Rewards: Whatever you have her make you.
