Practice: Think of someone you know. Describe this person using nothing but examples of his or her attitudes or actions, no straight adjectives. For example, rather than saying “he’s cheap”, say “he’s the kind of guy who tears the excess paper off bulk mushroom bags at the supermarket because it’s weight he won’t pay for”. Instead of saying “she’s confident”, say “she’s never wrong even when she’s dead wrong”. Think of all the little ways this person demonstrates his or her personality on a day to day basis.
Do this for a character! Lesson is to keep someone's personality consistent. Keeping them internally consistent is important, after all.
