This isn't an FAQ. That is a factoid thread. This is how Forest works and operates. It is how we have RPed for as long as I have been here. Now let's get this rolling.
We are freeform. We do not have set systems. We do not have set powers. We do not have set abilities. Now it sounds all fine and dandy, but leaving such things up to the individual gets messy very easily. So it is up the over all community to help regulate what is OP, what is uP and what is normal. Also freeform means, pretty much everything goes. I will elaborate further.
We are the Plot. There is a meta narrative. Mostly however the community comes up with its own plots. We have had multiple plots going on at once before. However, when something big does in fact happen. It is partly discussed before hand, so that all player will be on the same page.
If enough people think that your abilities are outlandish, they probably are. Either change your character, change your abilities, or gtfo. As said the entire community moderates itself. If enough think your character won't fit and you refuse to make changes, we will ask you to leave.
We also have all kinds here. Robots, humans, demons, anthros, etc. We accept all kinds. However, what we don't accept is the Dark Lord of the Broken Realm who has come to burn all in his path. You will get many groans and irritated comments. Most of our characters, simply wish to exist.
I will expand on the previous with this, if you come into Forest with some uber villain who really just hates things for no reason, prepare to be ganked. The Inn is full of people who generally care for each other and threatening just one, will bring the entire residency upon your head. Now, we have no problem with villain characters, it would be boring otherwise, just be smart about it. Think about how a villain would attack the avengers or JLA.
Shadow Gaming. We. Do not. Do this. Shadow gaming is controlling another characters actions involuntarily. This applies for autohits.
Example:
Wrong way
<Crimson> *ignites his saber and cuts off maverick's arm*
Right Way
<Crimson> *ignites his saber and swipes at the maverick's arm*
Also do not assume a character is going to do something just because you want them to. This is considered rude and we do not accept it.
Also please understand the difference between IC (In Character) and OOC (Out of Character). We place all OOC speech in brackets (( talking talking )). Generally OOC is reserved for complaints, pointing things out, and generally sillyness. Though we have a room specifically designated for OOC conversation, if the conversation begins to fill up the IC room we will ask you to move it to the OOC room
Something else to keep in mind, we do not all live within the same time zone. It is part of the glory of the internet, that people who live such distances can interact and have a good time. However it does create some inconveniences, as some players have to stay up ungodly hours in order to interact or RP.
I know it is really nitpicky, but please please have some sort of grip on proper grammar and vocabulary. It's okay to make a spelling mistake once or twice, but lolcat speak is just annoying. Also we don't use ROFL LOL or anything of the like in a literal sense.
This feels very incomplete and I will finish it as I think of it.
