Per request of Syriana, a list of the charges and other thoughts regarding the two month ban of Astro.
For starters, the charges against Astro are as follow:
-Running off new members.
-Running off a settled member.
The first issue, Astro (and others) have been warned of before. This is part of the problem with the overall stagnation of the RP community, which we, as operators, are trying to correct. As of now, ridding ourselves of the common denominators, even if temporarily, is the only answer we can come up with for the moment.
The second issue is trickier, and I find myself hesitant to mention it out loud, simply because I do not know how public the parties wish to be about it. Put simply, Astro has exhibited a severe homophobia which has pushed one settled member to the point of wanting to leave. This, to me, is a greater crime than running off a new member. Most of the operating staff that voted for the ban agreed that the behavior exhibited had to stop.
Do not mistake this for us controlling how you feel about, a sexual orientation, a religion, a race or any other usual victim of bias. The fact is, if you do not agree with a person's or character's orientation in any of these matters, you do not have to interact with the person. You may also leave, though we do not advocate anyone leaving if they have not earned the right to be escorted out by our collective boot.
The operator vote for the ban ended up being a close one, and with careful consideration was made a two-month ban from the IRC channels.
